I offer one-on-one guidance and recommendations for you and your family.

Consultations can be done in person, over video, or on the phone at your convenience!

The term biomedical is widely used to refer to a specific approach to treatments that consider the biological and medical fundamentals of autism and target those biological processes as part of an individual’s medical care. The brain’s ability to engage, focus, and learn, as well as its ability to develop and grow, is highly dependent on many different factors. Research shows that children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders tend to have high rates of associated medical conditions, such as genetic disorders, metabolic dysfunction, nutritional deficiency, immune dysregulation, gastrointestinal disorders, heavy metal, and toxin contamination. Biomedical interventions and testing help to identify underlying conditions, with proper treatment, children with neurological disorders can optimize their health and achieve their greatest learning potential.

Micronutrients are one of the major nutrient groups. Poor dietary habits, a lack of essential nutrients, certain diseases, and some medications can all impair absorption, resulting in nutritional deficiencies. I can identify deficiencies in your child and design an individualized supplement regiment for your child using an at-home Dried Blood Spot (DBS) collection testing service. The proper regimen can ensure that your child properly receives and absorbs all the necessary nutrients. DBS is an accurate, easy, and cost-effective method for identifying potential deficiencies; the test measures over +35 vitamins, minerals, metabolites, amino acids, and antioxidants.

Is your child experiencing digestional distress or discomfort? Identifying the root cause of intestinal dysbioses such as Celiac disease, neurological disorders, mood abnormalities, skin rashes, inflammatory symptoms, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivity, leaky gut, and malnutrition is imperative to improving the health of your child. A comprehensive stool analysis can examine hundreds of species of microbes at once, along with functional markers of digestion and inflammation. This comprehensive panel tests for pathogenic bacteria, yeast, viruses, and parasites that are known causes of serious health concerns.

Certain foods, food additives, and chemicals can trigger immune reactions that are not related to allergies. Many health problems and chronic conditions such as ASD, ADHD, Eczema, IBS, and autoimmune disease are worsened by food and chemical sensitivity. Mediated Release Testing (MRT) is a blood test that measures the release of 170 chemicals medicate from white blood cells and platelets in response to certain foods, additives, and chemicals.

Environmental toxins — when absorbed, inhaled, or ingested — can cause acute or chronic toxic overload and may harm a variety of biological organs, tissues, and cellular-level-systems. Symptoms and conditions from environmental toxins may include fatigue, depression/anxiety, heightened sensitivity to chemicals and food, mood swings, skin rashes, poor memory, difficulty concentrating, vision change, and much more.

A new area of focus in the biomedical world is genomics. Genomics is the study of a person's genes and how it interacts with other genes and the person's environment. Recent research and evidence suggest that DNA methylation defects are associated with ASDs, and the role of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene in folate metabolism may contribute to epigenetic mechanisms that modify complex gene expression, thus causing autism. Genetic testing may provide useful insight into the health of your child.

Organic Acids Testing, also called OATS, can accurately identify conditions associated with genetic disorders, nutrient deficiencies, intestinal dysbiosis, and toxicity from diet and prescription medications. This panel tests organic acids in the urine that are byproducts of daily cellular metabolism. This includes intestinal microbial overgrowth, detoxification, mitochondrial markers, a variety of metabolites, neurotransmitters, nutritional markers, ketone, and fatty acid oxidation.

Heavy metal toxicity is thought to affect over 1 million individuals annually, including developing fetuses and children. Immunocompromised individuals, as well as individuals with impaired liver function and reduced antioxidant activity, are at the greatest risk. Heavy metals accumulate in the air, soil,  and water sources and are associated with neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, skeletal, dermatological, renal, and reproductive symptoms.

Mycotoxin exposure can come from both dietary and environmental sources. Consuming spoiled food, as well as living or working in water-damaged buildings or coming in contact with outdoor molds, can all result in mycotoxin exposure. Conditions and symptoms of mycotoxin exposure include fatigue, coughing, wheezing, loss of balance, depression, skin rashes, heightened sensitivity to chemicals and food, sleep problems, poor memory, difficulty concentrating, abdominal pain, increase urine frequency, disorientation and/or dizziness. Identifying whether your child has been exposed to mycotoxins can help begin the process of healing.

Proper nutrition is vital for children to grow and live healthy lives. However, many children with developmental disorders struggle with feeding difficulties and meeting their nutritional needs. I am sure that you have researched many different diets on the internet — but which one do you choose and how do you start? That's where I come in. I provide one-on-one in-person or remote consultations that are designed to help your child achieve optimal nutrition through individualized diet planning.
